Carl Vilhelm “Willy” Bille was a Danish painter, known for his maritime motifs, still lifes, and landscapes, particularly scenes from Copenhagen. He was originally self-taught, but later became a student under his father, Vilhelm Bille, and studied from 1928 at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen as well as in Paris. His painting was influenced by French Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. Willy Bille participated in many exhibitions, including those at Charlottenborg, and received prizes such as the Carlson Prize in 1925 and the Lis Jacobsen Prize in 1930.
