Carl Vilhelm “Willy” Bille was a Danish painter, known for his maritime motifs, still lifes and landscapes, especially scenes from Copenhagen. He was originally self-taught, but later became a student of his father, Vilhelm Bille, and studied from 1928 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and in Paris. His paintings were influenced by French Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. Willy Bille participated in many exhibitions, including at Charlottenborg, and received awards such as the Carlson Prize in 1925 and the Lis Jacobsen Prize in 1930.
