Vintage Blairs Nautical Supplies Væskekompas. Wales. Fra 1927–1940.

This vintage nautical instrument, a Binnacle Compass Bowl, was produced or sold by the well-known British company Blairs Nautical Supplies Ltd. in Cardiff, Wales. The company officially changed its name after a change of ownership in 1927, placing the instrument in the historical interwar period, when Cardiff was one of the world's busiest shipping ports. The compass is constructed with a heavy brass case with a dark, painted outer side, a sturdy two-ring base with original brass screws, and an intact glass front. Inside, the original compass rose with clear directional indicators (N, S, E, W) and stylish typography from the time period appear. Technically, it is a liquid compass, where a liquid mixture originally dampened the compass rose's movements in rough seas. The instrument is equipped with a prominent filling and expansion stud in brass on the side, as well as rare, hand-stamped mounting and balance codes such as "G", "H", "S", "CC", and "SC", which ensured precision and correct adjustment during maintenance on board.
