Vintage Barometer with Thermometer. Germany, mid 20th Century Barometer and thermometer mounted in a carved wooden frame in a fishbone shape, gilded brass hardware. The barometer is used to measure atmospheric air pressure and predict the weather forecast. It measures the weight of the air to indicate whether the weather will improve (high pressure) or worsen (low pressure). Low air pressure (often indicates turbulent or rainy weather) High air pressure (often indicates clear and dry weather).
