Large antique Ratthanakosin Buddha statue in gilded bronze. Thailand, Chakri Dynasty, from the 19th century. Buddha stands with the right hand raised in front of him (palm outwards, fingers upwards) and the left arm resting along the side – known as Abhaya Mudra. This hand position symbolizes fearlessness, protection, and peace. Buddha can be depicted in this mudra both standing and sitting, but precisely the standing version is very widespread in Buddhist art. Richly decorated with clothing and jewelry.
