Large antique Ratthanakosin Buddha statue in gilded bronze. Thailand, Chakri Dynasty, from the 19th century. The Buddha stands with the right hand lifted in front of him (palm outward, fingers upward) and the left arm resting along the side – called Abhaya Mudra. This hand position symbolizes fearlessness, protection, and peace. The Buddha can be depicted in this mudra both standing and sitting, but precisely the standing version is very widespread in Buddhist art. Richly decorated with clothing and jewelry.
