Evocative Danish landscape painting by Niels Peter Christiansen, known for his naturalistic and detailed depictions of rural motifs with animals. The painting shows a tranquil summer landscape with grazing horses in the foreground and a soft, light sky in the background. A classic example of Christiansen's sure hand and sense of light and atmosphere.

Christiansen was educated at the Technical School and furthered his education through extensive travels in Europe and the Middle East. He exhibited at Charlottenborg from 1917 and was a member of the Artists' Association of 18 November.
