Maritime Sextant Instrument in Wooden Case. After Troughton & Simms 1910. India. Late 20th Century This classic navigation instrument is a detailed reproduction of historical sextants from the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. The instrument bears the inscription "SIMMS 1910 LONDON" on the arc as well as manually struck figures on the measuring scale.

The sextant is fully executed in brass with a movable index arm, adjustable ocular/telescope and pivoting colored sun filters in green and blue nuances. The main scale measures 0-120 degrees with a finely adjustable nonius scale for precise reading.

The instrument is supplied in a form-fitted rosewood case with brass corners and an anchor emblem inlaid in the lid.
