Knud Gamborg (b.1828-1900.) Impressionist Watercolor of Bøllemosen near Hillerød. Late 19th Century.

The motif depicts a woodland scene near Bøllemosen close to Hillerød, with still water and leafy trees in a cool, Nordic blue-green palette, in an impressionist style.

On the back of the watercolor is a handwritten provenance note, which documents the work's inheritance through the Gamborg, Nellemann, and Nørtheberg families over several generations. At the top, it reads, very unclearly “watercolor by the artist Knud Gamborg”.

Knud Gamborg was best known as an illustrator for “Illustreret Tidende”, and is considered one of the first Danish illustrators.
