Indian Measuring Vessel, North India, late 19th / early 20th century Volume measure in hammered brass with characteristic concave flask form, a form specifically used for measuring liquid goods such as milk, ghee and oil in the traditional north Indian measuring system. The outer side is decorated with engraved geometric bands. The base bears embedded control markers, likely official verification stamps from a colonial era market inspector who confirmed the capacity of the measure.
