The Danish dolktid was a period in the agricultural Stone Age, circa 2400-1800 B.C. The period is especially known for the beautiful and carefully produced flint daggers, which could be used as tools, weapons, and status symbols. Society became more hierarchical, and trade and contact between different areas grew. The thin-bladed flint axes could be very sharp and effective, even though they were made of flint. They are typically of the smaller size and none have been found with a handle, so one assumes that such axes were used for f. e. preparation of wood etc. Rather than felling.
