British P1888 Type 1 Lee Metford Bayonet

British P1888 Type 1 Lee Metford Bayonet. This is an extremely rare Type 1 P1888 Lee Metford Rifle bayonet. Very few of these were made before Type II was introduced. The reason for the quick design change was that the placement of the three rivets resulted in the handle cracking under use in the field, so Type II was introduced with only two rivets. Stamped: 96, BR 4 (crown), WD, RR, 76. Handle in wood. Measurements: TL: 62,2 cm. BL: 30,1 cm. Condition: see pictures. OBS: a valid bladed weapons permit from the Danish police must be presented upon delivery.
