Art deco Genia barometer with thermometer. Denmark, early to mid 20th Century barometer and thermometer mounted on a beautifully crafted wooden panel with gilded metal frame. The barometer is used to measure atmospheric pressure and forecast the weather. It measures the weight of the air to indicate whether the weather will improve (high pressure) or worsen (low pressure). Low atmospheric pressure (often indicates turbulent or rainy weather) High atmospheric pressure (often indicates clear and dry weather).
