Beautifully patinated antique rotator (spinner) with log and crook from a Thomas Walker & Son "Excelsior" taffrail ship log. Made in massive brass and bronze, with the characteristic wing-blades that rotated when the log was pulled behind the ship in a line, and drove a counter device on board to show sailed distance and speed. Stamped with the well-known manufacturer's mark: an anchor with "T.W." and "EXCELSIOR" on the blades. Counter device with dial does not include. Manufacturer: Thomas Walker & Son, Birmingham, England. Measurements: approx. 53,3x6,3 cm (incl. line). Condition: see pictures.
