Antique small Caucasian silver Kinjal-dolk. Kubachi, Dagestan. Sent 19./early 20. century Double-edged Kinjal-dolk from the Dagestan region in the Caucasus, with handle and scabbard richly decorated with niello silver patterns inlaid with characteristic leaf- and geometric motifs. The blade bears an Arabic inscription in cartouches on both sides. The handle is completed with a characteristic round pommel; the scabbard with a knob-shaped dupsko. Small Kinjal dolkes of this size were produced in Kubachi primarily for children, women, and Russian nobility.

Provenance: Originates from the collection of a Danish nurse, who from approx. 1947–60 was part of the UN's vaccination program in Africa and Asia. In connection with this, she acquired this dagger.
