This is an original woodcut engraving (Xylography.) cut from an original Danish newspaper from the 1800s, which was called Illustrated Family Journal. On the back of the frame is a cutout of the original front page, date, and title, etc. Attached to document the origin of the engraving for posterity. Mounted in a black and gold-painted wooden frame and glass. Dimensions with frame: Approx. 59,7x43 cm. Condition: see pictures.

Amor is the Roman god of love in mythology and corresponds to the Greek god Eros. He is often depicted as a young boy or winged figurine with a bow and arrows. According to the myth, his arrows can make people fall in love. Amor became an important symbol of romantic love and is later known as Cupid in English. He is especially associated with the story of Amor and Psyche, where love overcomes trials. In art from the Renaissance and later periods, Amor appears frequently as a symbol of love, desire, and infatuation.
