The creative process behind Zoll Antiques glass domes

The creative process behind Zoll Antiques' unique glass display domes is a long, patient and exciting journey. An aesthetic process that can be understood as a way of learning, whereby one translates one's impressions of the world into aesthetic expressions of form - in order to be able to reflect on and communicate about oneself and the world. In this post, we follow some of the impressions and impressions that Kim Zoll gives to found beautiful old glass display cases. We try to put words and feelings into his aesthetic idiom in a creative process where impressions give impressions and which create new expressions in future Zoll Antiques works. Kim Zoll says: "It is a sometimes abstract thought process to look for and buy objects that will be used in a creative process in the future - an undefinable object with an unknown appearance....but over time my eye becomes clearer and more focused...and I become more skilled at the craft. The idea of taking beautiful old things, whose original function, in many cases, is no longer relevant, and giving them new life, is beautiful and meaningful in my eyes."

A creative process can be described as an exchange and interaction with an object, one or more materials. Here we can talk about an aesthetic learning process where a kind of dialogue takes place with the material - a dynamic exchange process between origin, idea, material, perception and reflection. Here you can experience learning and a deeper understanding of the individual materials, i.e. the properties of the materials, their possibilities and their limitations. It is about entering into the dialogue with respect for the origin, structure and thus resistance of the material, which requires immersion, a certain humility and nuanced sensitivity. A process that takes as its starting point and illuminates a sensual bodily encounter with an object and which, in the processing of the material, gives rise to learning, development and mastery.
