Biography
Henning Schiøler became a student of Peter Rostrup Bøyesen when he left the Academy of Fine Arts in 1920 after being passed over for a professorship. In connection with the students' protest strike, S. also chose to leave the school. S. has worked with oil painting, watercolor, etching and woodcut. His world of motifs was the naturalistic landscape, ships and marines, figure paintings and installations. The paintings are done in a light line and with a lively and vivid brushwork that reproduces the experienced nature. Over the years, S. has mainly exhibited pictures with motifs from Tåsinge and the surrounding area, from Skagen and Anholt, a few pictures from his travels, and many from Nykøbing Zealand.
