Large antique Ratthanakosin Buddha statue in gilded bronze. Thailand, Chakri Dynasty, from the 19th century. Buddha stands with his right hand raised in front of him (palm outward, fingers upwards) and his left arm resting at his side - called Abhaya Mudra. This hand position symbolizes fearlessness, protection and peace. Buddha can be depicted in this mudra both standing and sitting, but the standing version is very common in Buddhist art. Richly decorated with clothing and jewelry. Buddha standing on a pyramid-shaped throne. Dimensions: 93x21x22 cm. Condition: see pictures.
