About the artist: Benjamin Dahlerup, also known as Benne Dahlerup, was a Danish illustrator, painter and printmaker. He worked in various media, including woodcuts and drawings, and often signed his works as "B. Dahlerup" or "BD." His art often depicted Danish sceneries, such as harbor views and landscapes.
Dahlerup was the son of the author Baron Joost von Dahlerup. Benne Dahlerup attended school with Gustav Vermehren 1913-14, at the technical school in Copenhagen (H. Grønvold), painted with Hans Henningsen and Harald Giersing, then with Luplau Janssen, where he learned the woodcut technique.
